Richard Lane, President and CEO of Vitruvian Exploration II, LLC, is an accomplished and successful energy executive residing in The Woodlands, Texas. He previously served as President of Exploration and Production with Southwestern Energy Company, an industry leading NYSE corporation. As President of the Exploration and Production Company, Richard helped Southwestern Energy Company achieve industry leading financial returns and record growth in production, reserves and income over a ten year period. Under Richard’s leadership, the company’s market capitalization grew from less than $200MM to approximately $15B. Notably, he and his E&P team discovered the Fayetteville Shale play and amassed over 1 million acres as first movers in the play. Production from that position today is over 2 BCF of gas a day.
After his public career, Richard founded private Vitruvian Exploration, LLC in 2009. Following the building of unconventional resource positions, the company sold its assets for approximately $400MM, generating high returns on capital for all its stakeholders. He founded Vitruvian Exploration II, LLC in partnership with Quantum Energy Partners, in late 2012, focused on unconventional resource plays in the Mid-Continent U.S., where the company is currently actively developing its extensive position in the core of the SCOOP play for both Woodford and Springer target formations.
Mr. Lane has over 30 years of exploration and production experience, including other technical and leadership roles at Tenneco, Fina Oil and Gas, and American Exploration Company. He holds BS and MS degrees in geology, and attended the Anderson School of Business at UCLA. Richard is widely recognized in the energy business as a value adding creative leader.
